Rumor has it I was a strong-willed little girl. Maybe you know a child like this: headstrong, set on her course, not so easily swayed to the other side. There is a lot of good that can come from that strong will, but trying to parent it can be challenging and frustrating.
I’m so thankful that God is patient with me. He doesn’t get flustered when I make mistakes, and He doesn’t question my worth when I really mess up. I know He’d rather I submit to His will every minute of every day, but I’m grateful He allows me to find my way into His will. Sometimes it’s easy to submit to what He’s asking me. But there are times, even though I know better, that I grab hold of the reins and try to steer the thing myself.
I’m working at getting better. I’m learning to start with “Your Will Be Done.” And in the place in between, I’m sending up my gratitude for His grace and forgiveness.
How about you? Are you steering yourself out of His will? Are you holding on to something He wants you to release?
Try praying the way Jesus taught His disciples:
Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. - Matthew 6:9-10
