The Best Is Yet To Come - VRSLY Devotional - 10.19.17

The story of Joseph is an Old Testament favorite of mine. Here is a guy who, although a bit arrogant at times, certainly didn’t deserve for HIS BROTHERS to sell him into slavery; and he didn’t deserve to be thrown in jail for a crime he didn’t commit. But he didn’t get bitter, or react the way, um, I might have.

Instead, he showed kindness to his jail mates, he showed respect and served Pharaoh, and he FORGAVE, IN A BIG WAY, his brothers. What? How? It’s hard to relate, isn’t it? I mean, in the middle of really hard life stuff, do I behave that way? Do you? We can learn a lot from Joseph - he must have kept his thoughts and heart swayed heavily toward the goodness of God; he knew that the dark season wasn’t the end - his best was on the horizon. And that’s why this is such a powerful verse, the one he speaks to his brothers at the end of the story:

You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people. - Genesis 50:20

Hang on - your best is coming!
