When I started going to church during high school, I learned that "praise" was the fast songs at church. Worship was the slow and reflective songs, but praise was the uptempo music. Then, as I grew in my faith, I learned that praise was something you did at certain times – like when something good happened or when you saw a spectacular sunrise.
But now I’ve learned that the ancient Jews needed seven words to adequately define the idea of "praise"! When you put them all together, these seven words describe praise as being a life that is marked by faith in action. When you serve people in need, when you welcome all people, when you show compassion and love, and when you acknowledge God as the source of all the blessings in your life - that is praise!
God promises to "inhabit the praise of His people", so as you fill your mind with truth, your heart with love and your life with service today, you’re praising God and He promises that He will be with you.
