I am known
By the one who called my name
When I was formed
In your hands go did my frame

Oh what a joy
This life that I live
To be favored in your eyes

You delight in me

Lyrics from You Delight In Me by Sean Feucht

For a second, put out of your mind all the negatives you see in yourself. No body shaming. No putting yourself down. Mentally erase all that stuff, even if just for a second.

When God looks at you, His fearfully and wonderfully made child, He DELIGHTS in you. YOU! He created you exactly as He intended. You are not a mistake. You are beautiful!

Write it down. Say it out loud to yourself.

"You delight in ME!"

For the Lord takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory. - Psalm 149:4

If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. - Romans 12:3-6a

According to dictionary.com, grace can be defined as,"the freely given, unmerited favor and love of God."

I reread that a few times to get it to stick, so in case you didn't I'll spell it out again.

THE FREELY GIVEN, UNMERITED FAVOR AND LOVE OF GOD. You don't have to earn God's Grace. He just gives it to you! And through His grace, he's given each of us various gifts, skills, and talents.

Some of us are great singers, speakers, or prayer warriors. Some of us are great at hospitality, and some of us are better at serving behind the scenes. And as Christians we're aware of how the body of Christ is made up of many members. We know that not everyone is going to be great at everything. And we are able to give them grace in the areas where they struggle.

But do you give yourself grace for your shortcomings? Do you give yourself grace when you sing off key or when you stumble over your words? Do you give yourself grace when you see someone who seems to have the whole "super-Christian lifestyle" together and you only own one walk in love. t-shirt? You're not going to be good at everything! And guess what? GOD GIVES YOU GRACE! Freely and unmerited. I know you can find some for yourself too.

But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior. - Titus 3:4-6

We've all heard Uncle Jesse say, "Have mercy," a few times. But he's talking about something a little different than when we pray and ask God to have mercy on us.

Mercy. To show compassion instead of carrying out the deserved punishment.

We’re all sinners, and as sinners we deserve death...

But God is merciful! When we confess our sins and ask for forgiveness, he shows us compassion. As Christians, we have the promise of eternal life with Him!

Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. - Micah 7:18

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? - Matthew 6:25-26

Humans worry. We worry about everything we need to get done in a day. We worry about ourselves as well as the people we care about. We're overwhelmed. Stressed out. And this chaos in our lives often transfers to our spiritual lives as well. But sometimes we need to stop, and acknowledge that we don't need to try to control everything--God's got it covered!
